Mr Jeremy Jarratt

Mr Jarratt is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who works at the Royal Bolton Hospital and the BMI Beaumont Hospital, Bolton.

His specialist interest is surgery of the lower limb and in particular knee surgery. He performs hip and knee joint replacement surgery. He also has a keen interest in sports injuries to the knee, performing arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, knee ligament reconstruction; including ACL reconstruction and complex ligament reconstructions.

Mr Jarratt graduated from St Andrew's University after a 3 year pre-clinical course and then completed his clinical training at Manchester University, qualifying in 1993. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of lreland in 1998 and proceeded on to orthopaedic training in Manchester as the Sir Harry Platt Research Fellow. He became an lntercollegiate Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2003 and was awarded the certificate of completion of specialist surgical training in 2005.

Mr Jarratt was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Bolton Hospital in October 2005. During his last year of training he undertook a Fellowship in knee surgery and travelled to the United States to spend time with several world renowned surgeons in Boston and lndianapolis.

He is a member of BASK and is currently developing the use of computer assisted knee surgery (navigation) in Bolton. Mr Jarratt is the research lead for a National group of Orthopaedic Surgeons assessing the application of computer guided revision knee surgery. He regularly teaches on knee replacement and trauma surgery courses, as well as being actively involved in the training of junior surgeons within the NHS.

Mr Jarratt is part of BOSS, Bolton Orthopaedic & Sports Surgery, who are a team of 10 local consultant orthopaedic surgeons who joined forces in 2007 to offer a comprehensive service for patients with bone, joint & sports injury problems.

BOSS is able to offer prompt, expert assessment, & planned treatment for all orthopaedic conditions from the elite sportsmen to "weekend warriors" as well as "wear & tear" problems.
