Mr John Henderson

Mr John Henderson works at the Royal Bolton Hospital and the BMI Beaumont Hospital, Bolton.  He is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in children's orthopaedics.

He has 20 years of experience as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and specialises in primary total hip and knee joint replacements, forefoot surgery, children's elective surgery and trauma surgery.

Mr Henderson graduated from the Victoria University of Manchester in 1976.  He underwent surgical training in Stoke-on-Trent, Bristol and Newcastle-upon-Tyne before attaining the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1982.  He then undertook specialist orthopaedic training in Manchester, Salford, Preston and Wrightington Hip Centre.  He was the first North West orthopaedic trainee to undertake further training in Adult and Paediatric orthopaedic surgery in Australia (Sydney).

Mr Henderson was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Bolton Hospital in 1990.  He has served as Secretary of the British Orthopaedic Trainees Association, President of the North West Medical Engineering Society, Clinical Director of Specialist Surgery, Secretary of the North West Orthopaedic Association and is at present Surgical Tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons of England at Bolton. He is an examiner for the Intercollegiate Orthopaedic Fellowship examination.

He has continued to lecture and publish research in adult and children's orthopaedics and trauma. He is a Fellow of the British Orthopaedic Association and member of the British Society for Children's Orthopaedic Surgery (BSCOS).
